With more orders and tenders awarded to us we have now outgrown our premises at Wesham and have relocated to a larger site at Newton.
Our new premises provides us with a site area in excess of 7 acres with substantial buildings comprising multiple workshops, clean room facilities, together with extensive stores, office and sales areas.
Workshops
SMP now has a workshop area dedicated to prefabrication engineering, fabrication work, blasting, spraying, etc. A second clean workshop is used for outfitting and testing, pipework gauge calibration and final product preparation
Clean Room
We also have a Clean Room for panel assembly and precision testing.
Stores
The new stores department was designed in-house to best fulfil not just parts storage but ease of location for supplying customer orders and parts distribution to the various workshops. Within the 2700 sq ft stores area we have managed to achieve over 3,700 sq ft of shelf space with more than 60 pallet bays. We also have considerably increased our outside storage areas for the larger pieces of equipment.
Reception and Offices
With the move came more office space and with that the opportunity to provide more designated office accommodation.
Our canopied main entrance leads through to our welcoming reception area. Within the office facility, our senior management have offices which include their own small meeting areas. The general administration office, accounts department, sales team, purchase team and CAD team all work together to support the workshop and stores personnel in the fulfilment of orders from our wide ranging client base.
Display Area
On entering our new premises and beyond the reception, we have a comprehensive display of some of the diving equipment we can supply to our clients. Our major supply list includes Kirby Morgan, Coltri, Cortland Fibron, Northern Diver, Subsalve and Interspiro to name a few.
Conference Room Facilities
We now have a designated conference/meeting room with HD flatscreen TV, internet & presentation facilities. This provides a highly efficient working environment for client liaison and progress meetings as well as a formal presentation area for the sales teams when greeting prospective customers.
Sales Office
Our new Sales Office at the very front of the building is situated close to the Conference Room. This new office has provided considerably more space for the customer files and sales literature allowing a much improved service to the customer.
So, what did we do to mark this landmark moment in SMP's History?
WE PARTIED!
A fantastic party was held at the new SMP premises with over 100 customers & suppliers attending. Caterers were brought in to provide a tasty indoor barbeque and bar which was enjoyed by all. We were lucky enough to book the amazing tribute band, Limehouse Lizzy, who were outstanding on the night with music that got everyone up dancing and lighting and pyrotenics that enhanced the party atmosphere. www.limehouselizzy.co.uk
The offices and works facilities were open for people to look around and appreciate the expansion of workspace and office facilities now available. It was agreed by all that it was a very successful opening to mark the beginning of the next era in SMP's history.
