Tough, versatile, dependable and durable. This is the Birns Snooper, an underwater luminaire that has gained an international reputation for being the best there is.
Tough. That's what you call a tempered body that withstands the bashes from ROV's swinging into support ships. A bullet-proof lens that supports the weight of a M74 tank. A unique bulkhead connector armoured with hard anodised aluminium and high impact Delrin.
Brilliant. A 1000 watt tungsten-halogen lamp in the focal point of a parabolic aluminised internal reflector creates an intense light-beam that cuts through the murk.
Versatile. The Snooper can be a diving bell light, an ROV light, a camera light or a diver's light. The Snooper can be yoke mounted (2 styles are available) or hand held. Four different lenses, in 2 thicknesses are available for different applications and the Snooper can accept different reflectors and different lamps from 12 volts to 240 volts, and form 25 watts to 1000 watts.
Dependable. Our reputation rests on the fact that our lights do not fail in the field. After assembly by trained personnel, the Snooper is subjected to a barrage of tests. Housing dielectricity to 500 volts. Arc resistance to 3000 volts. Hydrostatic pressure testing to 2000 PSI. 'Spot' or 'random' checking has no place at Birns; only 100% strict quality control is acceptable.
Durable. The high quality of the Snooper becomes especially apparent over time. We cast the Snooperout of only the finest purified aluminium, Electro-chemically treat the housing 3 separate times to ensure complete corrosion resistance and dielectricity and enamel paint it with 2 coats. We use only the best materials for the Snooper's assembly. Teflon. Silver. Stainless Steel. Gold. This extends the Snooper's working life.
