The Birns HMI 575W Lighting System is deesigned for use on deep ocean ROV or manned submersibles. Models are available in either aluminium or high-strength titanium alloy and can be operated for indefinate periods underwater in depths to 6000 metres (20,000 FSW) The 575W series uses comrecially available lamps which can be replaced in less than 60 seconds without the use of tools.

HMI LAMP TECHNOLOGY 575W/SE HMI lamps are brilliant (49,000 initial lumens) and very efficient (85 lumens/watt). HMI lamps are a shock resistant, gas discharge type that provide "day-light" colour temperature with excellent colour radiation (>90 CRI) for use with high quality colour cameras.

Electronic Ballasts The Birns HMI Lighting System utilises an electronic ballast which permits the use of options like "dimming" of the lamp's output (to 50% intensity) and TTL compatible On/Off control. The Birns HMI ballast is available in standard 120/240 VAC or optional 190-300 VDC models. All models are "hot-restrike" capable, offering virtually no downtime due to power glitches.
