Instrument Test Chamber DC-300B

This apparatus is presently the industry standard for testing the function, water-tightness, and accuracy of depth guages, watches, compact underwater photographic gear, and dive computers. It's also useful for classroom demonstrations related to diving physics and physiology. Each unit is fitted with an internal plastic bucket so that euipment is actually tested under water. In fact, many instruments may be harmed if tested dry because pressurized air can be trapped behind seals and diaphragms!

Model 300B has a full 10" diameter and 11" of usable height inside; outside dimensions are 10-1/2" in diameter by 15" high. Weight us about 100 pounds. The body is constructed from 1/2" thick, alloy steel pipe which is plated inside and out with and industrial, satin-chrome finish. The steel lens ring, which locks into the body by means of a cog and pin system, contains 1" thick plexiglass, o-ring sealed view port. The massive design of this chamber is necessary because current dive equipment requires more extensive testing at greater depths than did older gear; modern chambers receive far more cycling stress/metal fatigue than did their predecessors. The 300B was designed to provide increased longevity with a high safety factor even under the heaviest use!

The DC-300B has a normal working pressure of about 100 psi (230 ft deep) with a safety factor (ratio of burst toworking pressure) exceeding 8:1. Although hydrotesting is not required, each unit is repetitively tested to 250 psi (575 ft.)! Each standard chamber is equipped with a safety relief valve set at 125 psi (290ft). The vessel can be pressurized from a dive tank using the first stage of any dive regulator equipped with a standard BC hose. This hose couples to an air inlet fitting mounted on the stainless steel instrument/control panel which houses the air input control valve, a pushbutton bleeder, and a 4.5" master guage (230 ffw). This guage reads in both depth and pressure with 1% accuracy.

A unique feature of this chamber is a special bulkhead fitting which penetrates the vessel wall and connects to an internal swivel. The high pressure hose of any full integregated dive computer can be screwed into this swivel. The computer can then be submerged in the bucket and tested as follows: Attached to the outer end of the bulkhead is a pressure hose which is yoked to a scuba cylinder thereby alowing tank pressure to flow directly to the computer. After the computer is activated at full tank pressure, any lesser pressure can be obtained by turning off the tank and using the bleeder to reduce pressure to the desired level. The chamber itself must be pressurized with a separate dive tank as previously described. In this manner, integrated computers can be tested at virtually any combination of simulated depth and diver air supply! 48301... CHAMBER BULKHEAD AIR SUPPLY A special asssembly which attaches to the chamber bulkhead and allows air from a scuba tank to be delivered directly to any console within the vessel. Consists of a 5ft hose with a scuba yoke, bleeder and gauge
