The Type G15 Controller is a hand-operated Pressure Reducing Controller, incorporating a built-in Release Valve for reducing the downstream pressure when the handwheel is wound back. It has a flow capacity similar to that of the L15 and is suitable for inlet pressures up to 310 bar (4500 psi) with a maximum outlet pressure up to 276 bar (4000 psi). However, it
is particularly suitable for sensitive controls at low outlet pressures. The Controller is suitable for use with gases compatible with the materials of construction.
For outlet pressures below 103 bar (1 500 psi), control is effected by an adjustable Spring Loaded Diaphragm. For higher pressures control is by an adjustable Spring Loaded Piston. Venting from the Spring Housing when gas is released from the Release Valve is through a slot in the side of the Spring Housing. However, an alternative version is available for active gases and this is defined as the G15S type controller. The gas may then be vented through a spill connection which may be coupled to a suitable outlet pipe for piping excess gas to safety.
Should no Release Valve be required then the G16 Controller can be supplied in place of the G15. All other features between the controllers are identical. The Piston operated Controller for use above 103 bar (1500 psi) is designated G15 Mk 12. The valve may be mounted by using 2 drilled lugs which project from the top of the body at right angles to the line of flow at 84 mm (3 5/16") centres. The hole diameters are 7 mm (9132' dia.) and panel mounting attachments can be supplied as an optional extra. A built-in filter is provided on the inlet side to the controller and is made accessible by removing the
inlet adaptor. An Oxygen version of this valve is available to approved Lloyds Register of Shipping requirements but the maximum inlet pressure is restricted to 280 bar (4000 psi). The outlet pressure range is however the same. It is designated G1510X.
